The World Journal of Cardiology publishes (vol 26) a new study on the cardiovascular diseases linked to the exposure of nitrogen dioxide.
Because of the emissions of vehicle exhaust, nitrogen dioxide is an abundant pollutant in urban air.
The research was performed by the University Hospital of the Canaries, the Izaña Atmospheric Research Centre and the Central University Hospital of Asturias. The study concludes that the exposure to nitrogen dioxide conditions the heart ejection function.
