Mission to the Tamanrasset Global GAW station (Algeria) (February 9th-16th, 2009)

The Cimel suphotometer installed at the Tamanrasset Global GAW station in Septmeber 2006 was replaced by a new calibrated one in February 2009. New head sensor, electronic box and sun-tracking robot were installed. Two members of the Izaña Atmospheric Research Center performed the upgrading and met Algerian colleagues to exchange experiences and discuss details of the ongoing project.

This instrument is part of AERONET and PHOTONS networks and was installed in the framework of the SALAM (Saharan Air Layer Air Mass characterization) cooperation project between the “Office National de la Météorologie” (ONM, Algeria) and AEMET.
