Welcome to the website of the inmense project (Towards a Near Operational Validation of IASI level 2 trace gas products).
inmense aims at performing the first comprehensive and scientific long-term validation of the operational atmospheric trace gas products from the IASI (Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer) remote sensor. For this purpose, we will use high quality ground-based FTS (Fourier Transform Spectrometer) data as the reference. The project will establish the Spanish Izaña Atmospheric Research Centre (IARC) as a leading centre for the validation of space-based atmospheric trace gas observations and will develop a procedure for a near operational validation of space-based data. This development is of growing importance since in the near future there will be several new satellite sensors in space providing huge amounts of trace gas products. Check the menu project for more information regarding the project.
The inmense project involves scientists from the Izaña Atmospheric Research Center (AEMET, Spain), the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany), the CIMEL Electronique (France), and the Universidad de La Laguna (Spain).
The Spanish Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad provides financial support to the inmense project through grant no. CGL2012-37505.
