The new ESA/NEREUS publication ‘The Growing Use of GMES across Europe’s Regions’

 

The new ESA/NEREUS publication ‘The Growing Use of GMES across Europe’s Regions’ is now available as electronic book which you may download from: http://esamultimedia.esa.int/multimedia/publications/NEREUS/.

GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security; http://www.gmes.info/) is the European Programme for the establishment of a European capacity for Earth Observation.

This publication collects 67 portrays of GMES-applications. The application entitled “Monitoring and Forecasting Dust Storms” (pages 114-115), a contribution of the WMO Sand and Dust Storm Warning Advisory and Assessment System (SDS-WAS) and  the Monitoring Atmospheric Composition & Climate (MACC) Project,  was honored to be included as one of the top 67 portrays of GMES.

The publication was launched with a festive evening event and panel debate in the European Parliament on 10/10/2012 in Brussels/Belgium (see http://www.esa.int/esaLP/SEMT243S18H_LPgmes_1.html) which was an opportunity to bring together politicians, representatives of relevant European institutions and end-user representatives to debate the impact of GMES-uses on Europe’s regions.
