EUBREWNET recognized by the WMO Global Atmosphere Watch Programme
EUBREWNET has been recognized by the World Meteorological Organization Global Atmosphere Watch Programme (WMO-GAW) through the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Spanish State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) and WMO.
EUBREWNET is an international network devoted to the observation, quality control and processing of atmospheric ozone measurements, mainly from Brewer spectrophotometers. The network, managed by AEMET from the Izaña Atmospheric Research Center, provides homogeneous, traceable and high-quality products for ozone layer monitoring and atmospheric composition research.
The Memorandum of Understanding recognizes EUBREWNET as a WMO-GAW contributing network for total ozone column and ultraviolet radiation measurements. The agreement establishes the commitment of AEMET and EUBREWNET to operate the network according to WMO-GAW quality standards, support Brewer operators, participate in intercomparison campaigns, promote data submission to the World Ozone and UV Data Centre (WOUDC), collaborate with GAW expert groups, and contribute to the development of atmospheric observation products and services of relevance to the scientific community and society.
This recognition strengthens the integration of EUBREWNET within the international WMO-GAW framework and consolidates the role of AEMET and the Izaña Atmospheric Observatory in the development of reference atmospheric observation networks.
The signature of the agreement represents an important step for the Brewer community and for users of EUBREWNET products, reinforcing international coordination, data interoperability and the network’s contribution to global atmospheric monitoring programmes.
AEMET acknowledges the collaboration of the World Meteorological Organization and of all teams and institutions that have contributed to the development and consolidation of EUBREWNET over the past years

International EUBREWNET station network. The network provides centralized processing, quality control and traceable total ozone column and ultraviolet radiation products, contributing to the WMO Global Atmosphere Watch Programme.
