From May 7th to 15th , 2024, fifty Calitoo sun-photometers have been calibrated at Izaña Observatory (IARCAEMET) as part of the World Meteorological Organization-Measurement Lead Centre (WMO-MLC) for Aerosols and Water Vapour Remote Sensing Instruments program and the ATMOS-ACCESS project (Sustainable Access to Atmospheric Research Facilities).

Calitoo sun-photometers are involved in the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) program, a worldwide hands-on science and education initiative for primary and secondary schools.

Following their manufacturing, sun photometers must be periodically calibrated to provide measurements of aerosol optical depth (AOD). The optimal calibration conditions at the Izaña Atmospheric Observatory have enabled the calibration of these Calitoo sun photometers for the fourth time (in 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2024).
